Change in Structure of PTAP

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced a change in the structure of the PTAP for both levels. The new structure will be effective from June 2023.

The main change is the inclusion of questions on current economic and business affairs. These questions will be worth 8-10 marks at both levels. The study content related to current economic and business affairs will be published in the monthly journal “The Chartered Accountant Student”. The questions will be asked from the last three issues of the journal prior to the date of examination.

The revised structure of the PTAP is as follows:

Level 1

  • Compulsory: 50 marks
    • Accounting and Auditing (including Corporate Laws and Current Affairs): 50 marks (including 8-10 questions of Current Affairs)
  • Optional: 25 marks
    • Direct Tax: 25 marks
    • Indirect Tax: 25 marks
    • Internal Audit: 25 marks
